lichtdicht record label
Litchdicht record label was produced in order to reduce the amount of pressure put onto small, unknown artists by major record labels. With this being the reason for the industry's discovery, they decided to name it 'Lichtdicht'- which is means 'give those who need it more space, more air to breathe'. With the industry name having such a strong, underlying meaning, it is evident that the strongly believe in taking care of their artists.
Milky Chance were the industries first artists and they spent a lot of time with them ensuring they remained positive and could see 'the light at the end of the tunnel'. The company also went on to state that, they do not want the artists to believe that the positivity 'ends at the end of the tunnel', when in fact it starts to become a roller coaster journey.
After being successful with Milky Chance, in 2014, the industry contracted some more artists. One of these being 'James Hersey'.

the history of the music video
In 1894, music was first merged with film and essentially being the beginning of music videos. A sheet music publisher hired George Thomas, an electrician, to synchronize a live performance with a lantern that would show projected images. This became a revelation and people were stunned by what they were witnessing.
The Jazz Singer was then the first film to sync audio and image; which allowed people to see a musical performance that wasn't live.
In 1965, the Beatles produced the music video for ' We can work it out', which is considered to be the first music video that was to broadcast on television.
A year later, in 1966, music videos started to distance themselves from just being a live performance and they started to explore options in cinematic language.
The 1980's then saw music videos beginning to explore social and political themes. A prime example of this is David Bowie's 'China Girl', which explored race issues. David Bowie spoke out about the video later in an interview, where he spoke about the importance of using this platform to address social issues. He stated "Let's try to use the video format as a platform for some kind of social observation". As a great influencer, this would have largely impacted the views of not only the public/audience watching, but also directors and producers of music videos.1983 also saw the most successful and influential music video of all time be released. This being the nearly 14 minute long music video for Michael Jackson's song "Thriller". With this song costing $800,000 to film, it set new standards for production. The music video was so influential as it got African American artists played on MTV; prior to Michael Jackson's success, this was rarely shown.
1992-2004 saw the rise of directors and how they began to be credited with the artist and song credits.
YouTube was launched in 2005, this allowed viewing music videos to be much faster and easier. Similar websites had a profound effect on the viewing of music videos. Artists began to witness their success entirely through their audience viewing online.

media industry theories
Curran and Seaton's power and media industries theory represents the idea that the media is driven by small companies that essentially thrive off of profit and power. This is extremely relevant within the music industry as with Copyright regulations, comes the opportunity to make a great deal of money if another artist is seen to be duplicating your brand/artist name or song. It is also becoming increasingly more popular for smaller industries/artists to take control of their careers with the help of the internet. There is no longer such a big need to be involved with such a big industry or record label, as it is now possible to self-publish your own work and make a success of your career without them; as this allows for more freedom and can reduce costs and profit sharing, it is becoming more of an option for artists.
Media concentration generally limits variety which is also similar to that of the music industry. With there being so many music videos that have been published, originality of videos are becoming increasingly more difficult.
